Eastern Garter Snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

Description:

A medium sized striped snake with variable coloration. This one is brown with 3 yellowish stripes down back and black spots between stripes making it look checkered. Length: 2 feet, (61 cm). Food: Earthworms, frogs, fish and small mammals. (Blue eye covering signifies that it is ready to shed.)

Habitat:

Woodlands. This snake lives right by the garage door, but not far from the woods.

Night photography/flash - Photo #4, snake hurrying back into its home under a rock and an opening in the driveway. 2nd spot of this snake. See comments of fresh shed snake 3 months ago.
