Little Corella

Cacatua sanguinea

Notes:

According to the Birds in Backyards website, Little Corellas feed in large, noisy flocks. This bird and its mate must be exceptions... they sometimes come and feed on our neighbour's tree, and if it weren't for a small grumble now and then and the cracking of seed pods, you wouldn't even realise they were there. Little Corellas are not that 'little' either... they're not as big as a sulphur-crested cockatoo, but they're much bigger than more commonly seen parrots such as lorikeets.

Yeh, I can see how easy it would be to mistake them for a cockatoo. Great spot & great pics :)

Thanks Leanne, I might have seen them before but they're certainly not common and I probably just thought they were weird-looking cockatoos or something!

Great spot Shanna. I've never actually seen one of these.
