A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Paropsisterna beata
With six bright spots on the elytra and rosy cheeks, this large beetle is easily visible in the foliage. The characteristic larvae among them are assumed to be the same species.
this large beetle was found in large numbers and causing some damage to young planted trees along the roadside.
In Melbourne these beetles look similar but have only been noticed under bark and assumed to be nocturnal. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/102...

The two hind dots merge in the NSW (northern) part of the range but not in Victoria.
