Dyplolabia afzelii is a script lichen that is usually found on smooth barked trees like holly and southern magnolia. More rare outside of Florida.
Spotted on a magnolia tree at the Orange Beach Waterfront Park.

How do you manage to ID all of your lichen spottings, Brian? Lichen and fungi baffles me at the best of times. May I run this one by you? The tree this is on is called coachwood, a species that thrives in rainforests, and I've not seen this lichen on any other species of tree.
