Description:

Small butterfly with mostly orange wings. Black border and markings with some lighter yellowish coloration and black spots. Small white wavy line on inner margin of black edging on hind wings. Black and white striped antennae with clubbed tips. Orange at tips of antennae. When at rest, butterfly slowly opens and closes wings. Common in the eastern United States.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard garden.

Notes:

This lovely butterfly was very good for the camera.
