I still think that if the help of some people with informatic knowledge would have been accepted (and it was offered) that this problem could have been fixed. At least a page listing titles of missions with a link to each mission and indexed by geographic area would have been of great help to the users and if the main manager of this web site would have ever found the time in his busy agenda to reply emails from some of the volunteers we would have gladly come in to help with this problem.
Google is only a temporary trick Marta but it works quite well. I find missions using keywords: here I used project noah mission hummingbirds. Try it out and you'll see it pulls out all other local missions too. The local missions search and listing on Project Noah is linked to the mapping system, which unfortunately got discontinued; when it worked, local missions would would show up depending on your location. With a new mapping system and a complete overhaul of the way missions are organized this will hopefully change for the better.
....Just one more thought: how are people going to find a mission in Google if they do not know beforehand that this particular mission exists? If Google is the way then at least there should be a List of local Mission titles somewhere (instead of the many pages one has to go through now) so that people can first see which missions do already exist for their area..in my case, I cannot even see the Mission for Biodiversity in Belgium. It does not figure in my own local area....This is the core of the problem for the existence of all the many overlapping Local Missions...
Here it is Marta. The best way to find these is searching in Google. Search for local missions on Project Noah itself is unfortunately malfunctioning at this stage. https://www.projectnoah.org/missions/140...
Malcom. if there is a local mission for Hummingbirds of Brazil, how can we access it? I went to local missions but I cannot find it. I would like to sign up on it but when they are so difficult to find it is not difficult to imagine why there are so many overlapping local missions....
Hi Aisse, your spottings need to be removed from a recent mission which was created without prior approval. The Hummingbirds of the New World was not approved and has been downgraded to Costa Rica to avoid overlaps which can cause loss of information. Please use the Hummingbirds of Brazil mission for your applicable spottings. WE are currently removing out of range spottings from this mission.
