Midnight Snapper

Macolor macularis

Description:

Pale blue snapper with deep blue fins and lips, and yellow eye. Can sometimes be found shoaling with the similar black snapper (M. niger). Primarily feeds on zooplankton. I found just one of these swimming around.

Habitat:

Found predominantly around steep slopes of lagoons or reefs, though I found this one at quite a shallow depth (5m) on a sandy reef flat.

Notes:

This was taken at the Pak Kasims reef off Hoga Island in the Wakatobi National Park, Indonesia.
