Spotted hyaena

Crocuta crocuta

Description:

Somewhat like very large, heavily built dogs. Off white to light brown with irregular dark spots that tend to fade with age. The muzzle is black and the face is the same colour as the body. The head is massive, woth a heavy muzzle. The ears are rounded. The limbs are sturdily built, the front legs are longer than the hindlegs. The hair is short and somewhat wooly.(Smithers' mammals of southern africa a field guide. fourth edition)

Habitat:

a wide range of habitats, excluding only dense forest and desert.

Notes:

It must've just been in a fight, as his left ear was bleeding and he had numerous cuts in his neck. Wasn't in a great mood and readily fled.
