Yours looks more like potato earth ball. If you wish ,you could leave it as Scleroderma sp for now. These are poisonous!

j. this is my spotting. When i opened it the inside was exactly similar to what there is in your spotting. I found this earth ball under a red wood tree. I just left it as Scleroderma Sp. i need to research a little more.
