Herald Snake

Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia

Description:

Dark gray snake with white specks. They are also called the red-lipped snake, and you can see why.

Habitat:

Our guides wife actually found this guy on her porch while we were out spotlighting at night. She radio'd to tell her husband, and he told her to put a bucket over it until he got home. She's terrified of snakes so we figured she didn't do it, but the next morning they brought us a bucket and there he was. They love when the crazy, snake-catching Americans come over every New Years, so she knew she had to get the snake for us. We really appreciated it!
