brown shrike

Lanius cristatus

Description:

Brown shrikes are locally known as "tarat." They are migratory birds. Like other shrikes, the brown shrike can easily be recognized because of the characteristic black bandit mask.

Notes:

The video taken at 3:11 pm shows a shrike moving its tail back and forth as it produces that loud distinct sound that the bird is known for. The photos were taken between 3:12-3:14 pm.
