Fungus Infected Caterpillar

Pyrrharctia isabella

Description:

Isabella Tiger Moth caterpillar (Wooly Bear) found dead, covered with a fungus of some sort (looks like powder). Throughout the park we observed many caterpillars in this same state. Dead, found near the tops of the plants and covered in the unknown fungus. All the caterpillars looked like Tiger Moth types, perhaps of the same species but I am not entirely sure.

Habitat:

Short Hills Provincial Park, Ontario. Forest.

Notes:

Other images of fungus infected moths and caterpillars: http://bugguide.net/node/view/723776 If anyone might know what type of fungus may be affecting the caterpillars, I wold love to know.
