Nephila antipodiana
This is a large spider that i found on the tree in my backyard. It is a female of Batik Golden Web Spider (it lost 3 of its legs). Its abdomen has yellow dots and markings, and its palps and legs are completely black. The size of this spider is about 30 mm in length (not including its legs). I also found Red and Silver Dewdrop Spider (Argyrodes flavescens) that live on this spider's web, stealing its food - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/151....
- Spotted hanging on the jack-fruit tree in my backyard. Usually, it can be found around the garden, bushes, and secondary forests.
- This is a spider belonging to the family Nephilidae. This spider makes the largest and strongest web, and it getting its name from the golden color of its silk. Thanks to Paul Davis for the ID.
