Piranga olivacea
A member of the cardinal family, the female scarlet tanager is olive green to yellow in color in contrast to the bright red male. Scarlet Tanagers are often out of sight, foraging high in trees for fruit and insects, sometimes flying out to catch insects in flight.
These American birds migrate from North America to northwestern South America, passing through Central America around April, and again around October. Seen near a river.
