Striped Albatross Butterfly (Male)

Appias olferna peducaea

Description:

With yellow streak and a loop design as underside markings, I thought first that this is a Green-veined White butterfly. The Striped Albatross gets its name from the male butterfly, which is white with prominent black veins on the underside. The female is dark dusted with yellow wing bases. Appias olferna Swinhoe, 1890, still treated by some reference as subspecies of A. libythea.

Habitat:

Spotted in an open space where weeds are growing. I never saw this butterfly in the garden. Actual location of spotting was in Biñan Laguna, Philippines.
