Wasp

Description:

Small (less than 1/4 inch) wasps of varying shades of dark gray and black. The abdomen has a light ring around it in the middle. Wings are clear

Habitat:

Common in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador. They build their nest on flat surfaces, only 1 layer deep.

Notes:

This example is on the side of a cement block building. It is exposed to rain but not sun. That may be by coincidence, or not.
