Virginia Rail

Rallus limicola

Description:

This rail was across the road from the previous spotting. It may be a young bird that was afraid to leave its position. I was about 40 ft away and moved to get a better shot, but he/she just hid in the vegetation.

Habitat:

This is Yacht Basin Road. It is noted as a place that Rails visit. It is at the intersections of a canal, Rollover Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
