Spotting

Description:

Large funnel looking mushroom. This is the biggest mushroom Ive ever seen. The cap is over 6 inches across, the stem is over 1 inch round and the gills are so thick. The cap is also funnel shaped and dished toward the center. The cap is fibrous too.

Habitat:

This one was on the edge of a mixed forest with hardwood, longleaf pine and sloped toward a river that was about 25-50 feet away. The mushroom was growing out of the soil.

Notes:

Spotted at River Creek WMA near Thomasville, GA
