Description:

Family: Nymphalidae. A large colorful butterfly 45-50 mm wingspan. Dark brown, red/orange and black wing pattern. Feeds on variety of flowers. Small white asters seen here. Two broods from March to October. Larva feeds on neetles.

Habitat:

Meadow with abundant flowers and weeds.

Notes:

One of the last butterflies seen in late fall especially in Europe. (see video)
