White Duncecap Mushroom

Conocybe apala

Description:

Creamy white mushroom, ~ 35 mm high, color darkening to pale yellow at the center of the cap. Cap bell-shaped to conical, glabrous, but slightly striated toward cap margin, ~ 20 mm diameter, 10mm high. Cap margin narrow, ~ 2 mm, thin, light brown, sinuous. Stem creamy white, cylindrical (equal), thin, ~ 2mm diameter, possibly with some floccose material on the surface. Unfortunately, gills were not observed.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on insular tropical upland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing in a neighborhood lawn. I was interrupted during the recording of this spotting. When I returned a couple of hours later to finish the job by observing the gills in detail, the mushroom was gone without a trace.
