Gulf Fritillary

Agraulis vanillae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Description:

The upperside of this butterfly is orange to dark orange with some white spots and black markings. The underside is marked with long silver/white elongated spots with brown markings. It has elongated forewings.

Habitat:

This butterfly was found feeding on a cone flower in my front yard. They can be found in open fields, pastures, and woodlands.
