Description:

The male has a tan body with a black butt and a green eye patch that extends to the back of the head. The female is all brown with a darker patch around the eye. Both sexes have a blue bill with a black tip.

Habitat:

They commonly breed in wetlands in boreal forests in northern North America, and winter as far south as South America.
