Branta hutchinsii
The cackling goose looks a lot like a Canada goose, but is much smaller and a shorter neck.
Spotted in a flooded slough at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
This species is native to North America. It breeds in northern Canada and Alaska in a variety of tundra habitats.

Thank you Christine. It does add another dimension. I had a lot of fun that day at this refuge. I think the snow was allowing me to get closer to them.
