Grey Count Butterfly

Tanaecia lepidea

Description:

This nymphalid butterfly is a very dark brown with a border of grey. The border is broadest in the lower middle part of the upperwings. Strong and restless flier that flies low...it lead me a merry chase.

Habitat:

Chilapata Forest is near Jaldapara National Park in Dooars, Alipurduar district, West Bengal, India. I spotted this butterfly in the gardens of Chilapata Jungle Camp a tourist resort of sorts located right where the Chilapata forest ends.
