African Elephant

Loxodonta africana

Description:

These two juvenile African Elephants are sparring with each other, getting used to their large tusks ready for when they have to battle for females. African elephants are much larger then asian elephants although these two are young juveniles and still have a good few years to grow to the size of some of the larger male elephants in Africa.

Habitat:

Large areas of African scrub, these Elephants at Amboseli have the luxury of swamplands to wade through to kepp themselves cool in the heat of the day.
