I think it's way too bright for a Butter Cap, Jez - also the Gymnopus doesn't really match. The surface was greyish with a slightly dirty yellow/brownish center and as you can see on the forst pic, it was like very fine leather

It is collyboid, and I imagine a form of R. butyracea. Checking your notes you might also want to look at some Gymnopus.
