Eurasian Tree Sparrow

Passer montanus

Description:

The Eurasian Tree Sparrow is a passerine bird in the sparrow family with a rich chestnut crown and nape, and a black patch on each pure white cheek. The sexes are similarly plumaged, and young birds are a duller version of the adult. Source: Wikipedia. Picture a little hazy...was taken behind a glass window, in full zoom.

Habitat:

Spotted in the avocado tree, backyard.

Notes:

In the Philippines, this is commonly called Maya. This Brown Maya should not be confused with the former National Bird of the Philippines, the "real" Philippine Maya, otherwise known as the Black-headed Munia also known as Chestnut Munia (Lonchura atricapilla). While it's family is found throughout Asia, the maya bird subspecies particularly belongs to the Philippines. It's called Lonchura atricapilla jagori. Source: http://www.philippinebird.com/ .
