pyrrhopyge charybdis charybdi
The beautiful red and black butterfly called our attention as soon as we saw it flying around our house. It has black with a greenish gloss wings with a thin white margin at the rear end of its wings. Its head and the end of or its body is bright red. Both female and male are similar.
These butterflies live in South America. They can commonly be seen in Uruguay, North of Argentina and South of Brazil.
After spotting this one I spotted several more in different places.

Nice!
Thank you very much Adarsha; it is a beautiful butterfly indeed and many seem to be flying around lately =)
Beautiful spotting! Just loved it!
Thank you Sofía, Lleana, Ashish, Bayucca and Fede! And sorry, Bayucca, you are right, typo. And yes, the file you shared is from the same reference I have. I am using Gabriela Bentancur Viglione's book. Greetings
Beauty...
Looks fine for me, although these Pyrrhopyge look all very similar:

Note: It should be Pyrrhopyge charybdis charybdis. In the second charybdis you did a mis-spelling!
Very pretty in black with red accents! :) Great spot patty!
Thank you very much and I couldn´t agree more =). Much to my delight and my daughters' the stunning black and red butterflied posed for us in the bright yellow swings =).
Greetings
Ah! So pretty!
It landed on the perfect spot (a yellow jungle gym?) to make the photo even more attractive. :)
