Eristalinus quinquestriatus
About 1cm in body length. Eristalinus is a hoverfly genus of the family Syrphidae. As their common name suggests, they are often seen hovering or nectaring at flowers.
Spotted in the backyard on a yet to be identified weed's flower.
IDd before as Eristalinus megacephalus, but this species does not have Oriental distribution, and more on African and Palaearctic. I learned a lot from PN Agnes. Before I joined, I knew only two kinds of flies, the "langaw" and the "bangaw" :)
Bull's eye Leana! Megacephalus just perfect term for its big head! Thanks!!
