Anthanassa sp. possibly A. tulcis
Drinking water in a splash zone along the river. Family Nymphalidae. This species was also spotted in August at a higher elevation, puddling in the gravel along the highway: (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/384...).
Tropical forest, dry season. Chorreadero Park, 10 km above Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, Mexico.
Thank you bayucca for the Identification, who would have thought these could be so difficult to ID?
Extremely difficult genus! Need to be verified. You have to count each spot, looking for neighboring spots, their distance to each other, color shades, age etc. I mostly can exclude some for sure and I think it is Tulcis but I am not 100% sure. If you want to be on the safe side you take Anthanassa sp.
