Spider-hunting Wasp with prey

Tachypompilus ignitus

Description:

Thrilled to have this amazing event take place right in the middle of the path way in the semi-forest area behind our home. This enormous rain spider has fallen prey to an even bigger wasp! Wasp - 5/7 cm black body with orange legs and antennae, orange wings

Habitat:

Semi-forest between dried twigs and leafs

Notes:

This wasp attacked us on approach - my husband jumped like a Jack in the box and ran away - I then shouted at him (from where I was crouching) to grab my camera and run back - of course after the horrific attack on us, I was very careful and nervous to get too close. Hope these pictures do justice a another memorable moment in nature!
