Leuconotopicus villosus
The Hairy Woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker with a longer bill than the Downy. The juvenile male's red patch on his head will move toward the back of his head as he ages. As an adult, the red patch will be at the back of his head.
Spotted at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Riparian forest area.
