lauxanid fly

Incurviseta sp.

Description:

A glossy fly with a deep brown thorax and a caramel-coloured head. The thorax and abdomen looked well rounded.

Habitat:

Spotted feeding on nectar from flowers of willow myrtle.

Notes:

I could not get proper shots of this fly as it did not land anywhere for more than a few seconds. I am hoping it will return. What was striking was the gloss and the rich dark chocolate colour.
