Larus melanocephalus
Breeding alongside Black-headed Gulls but in much smaller numbers, they can be picked out by their black hoods as opposed to the dark brown (sometimes appearing black) hoods and more obviously by their white wing-tips as opposed to black for the inappropriately-named Black-headed Gull. There is a pair in the centre of this picture, one sitting and one standing, surrounded by their more common lookalikes.
Coastal marshes, breeding grounds.
