Helicopter Damselfly

Megaloprepus caerulatus

Description:

An insect that flew like a helicopter. Long thin body, 4 wings of equal length with a blue stripe near the end. I saw one last time in Costa Rica and really wanted to see one again. I came across this one flying by the edge of a stream. It then crossed the stream and flew onto a tree a long way away. This is the resulting shot, not clear, but proof that I saw it. I found a great video of one flying on UTube which i added in the notes. If you haven't seen one, it's worth a look.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, by a stream. Second photo shows the habitat.
