The plumage on these birds were more vibrant that I typically see (pic #1,2 & 3 is the bird that caught my eye with its strikingly orange breast; #4 was hunting around a frozen pond but landed nearby as I took pictures of the first), making me wonder if it has perhaps migrated south for the winter from a northern range. If you look at my various other RSH sightings, you will probably agree that the "local" birds tend to be much paler orange, and the distinction between brown and black is much finer.
