Six-Spotted Fishing Spider

Dolomedes triton

Description:

A spider that appears to be able to literally walk on water; often seen perched on a lily pad or on a reed growing in the lake. Light-colored with two stripes along either side of its upper body

Habitat:

frequently found on or near the fresh water of Lake Emma

Notes:

This spider appears to be missing a leg and I never did see it move however, I have other images of similar-looking spiders on the lake that appear to have the ability to walk on the surface of the water. I've never seen them walk further than a foot but perhaps they can and I just haven't seen it. I have no idea whether or not it spins a web but I've never seen one of these spiders next to or near a web of any kind.

May be missing legs, but you can count the spots on its back. Nice one :)

Spiders have eight legs. If it is indeed a spider it may be a raft or fishing spider.
