Thanks Argy! Wow, then ours aren't as bad as that! The bulk of them are outside fortunately, and yes they do smell, but not to the degree of having to evacuate! this happens every year and there has to be some reason, will keep searching. I have seen similar species all over our country, but usually solitary.

Sure have. In the 1960's when the Portuguese millipede invaded Australia we had bucket loads falling out of chimneys and light fittings. Plaster ceilings sagged under the weight of them. And the smell when they died forced us to move out for a while. Do you think these are an endemic species? Hope they don't smell like our Portuguese ones did.
