I like this guide better. Look at 1st winter. The wingtips are darker and the base of the bill will lose some of the black on the Herring.

Thayers gulls are present too. But this does look like Herrings.

could be Jellis. The beak was more than 3/4th black.Alternate plumage for black backed or glaucous?
