Sorry, but this ID should be an indeterminate "Parides spp." because: * P. iphidamas is not recorded from east of the Ecuadorian Andes (http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/butterflies/neo...). * Of the four species reported from Orellana Province (http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/butterflies/neo...), one or more have unknown caterpillars. * Many Parides larvae are notoriously similar in appearance (personal rearing experience).
Karen, is one-inch-long an accurate length? Thanks much!

Perhaps Parides iphidamas calogyna, since its from Ecuador !

Could be Nuwan, though I didn't see any swallowtail butterflies there.
sort of Swallowtail butterfly cat. i guess!
