Treecreeper

Certhia familiaris

Description:

Small bird with white belly and a streaky/mottled brown back that almost melts into the striations of tree trunks making it almost impossible to spot; if still. Thankfully it climbs up and down the tree trunk and even circles it. It is the movement you spot. Thin curved beak.

Habitat:

Tall, currently leaf-less trees in the woods of Meanwood. This area has running water in the form of streams, open lawns, trails even muddy/boggy areas.

Notes:

Happy news is that the population is relatively stable since 1980.
