A Snout Moth

Description:

Moth- A chiefly nocturnal insect, related to the butterflies. It lacks the clubbed antennae of butterflies, and typically has a stout body, drab coloration, and wings that fold flat, when resting. Moth- Any of numerous insects of the order Lepidoptera, that typically have stout bodies, antennae of various shapes, ( but no clubbed ) including large brightly colored species, such as hawk moths, and small inconspicuous types, such as the clothes moth. Moth- Any of various usually nocturnal lepidopteran insects, with antennae that are often feathery, with a stouter body, duller coloring, and proportionately smaller wings than the butterflies, and with larvae that are plant-eating caterpillars. I saw a small, reddish and pinkish moth, resting on a concrete wall, outside of my house. It's wings were resting flat against the wall. It was three eights of an inch long, and five sixteenth of an inch wide. It had two, brownish, labial palps. It had two, black, compound eyes. It had two, filament antennae. It's head was a reddish color. It's thorax was a grayish color. It had six legs. It's legs was a brown and gray color. It had a head, thorax, and an abdomen. It had four wings. It's wings, were different shades of red, pink, white and gray, in color. This moth was alive, and able to fly.

Habitat:

This small, reddish and pinkish moth, was resting on a concrete wall, on the outside of my house.

Notes:

At 6:30 a.m. in the morning, I went outside looking for insects. I saw a small, reddish and pinkish moth, resting on a concrete wall, outside of my house. It was three eights of an inch long, and five sixteenth of an inch wide. It had two, brownish, labial palps. It had two, black, compound eyes. It had two, filament antennae. It's head was a reddish color. It's thorax, was a grayish color. It had six legs. It's legs, were a brown and gray color. It had a head, thorax, and an abdomen. It had four wings. It's wings, were different shades of red, pink, white, and gray in color. This moth was alive, and able to fly. ( I apologize for my photos. They did not turn out very well. ) It's wings were resting flat against the wall.
