Description:

Adults are often seen flying low among herbaceous plants, perhaps stopping to feed on rotting fruit or fermenting plant exudates. A study conducted in São Paulo state, Brazil, showed this species was active in the wet season in early morning and again beginning in mid-afternoon. In the dry season the peak activity was moved closer to midday, with only a brief period of inactivity from about 11:00 to noon.

Habitat:

This species is common in grasslands, pastures, and forest edges. Range: Texas to Surinam, south and west to Bolivia.
