Limnodromus scolopaceus
About 11 1/2inches long, these are in winter plumage. Note the long bill seems slightly flattened at the tip.
Breeds in the high arctic of Canada and Siberia. Winters along the West Coast and down into Mexico. I am not sure how far south they extend in the winter.
