Maned Forest Lizard

Bronchocela jubata

Description:

Female and male Maned Forest Lizards.

Habitat:

Adjacent to small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

Very difficult to find these elusive creatures, with their very effective camouflage. But, once found, they are a joy to photograph as they don't move, such is their faith in their camo defense. If you stress them too much, they will change to a dark color, then you know that it is the right thing to move on. I have included an image of the color change. The males have more pronounced crests, also included.
