Tuna (New Zealand Longfin eel)

Anguilla dieffenbachii

Description:

Female NZ Longfin eels, a native eel species, at Willowbanks park reserve, where visitors can feed them and caress them. Scientists and conservation groups have growing concern for the survival of the species as they can be legally fished, and have a slow reproduction rate, breeding only once at the end of their lifetime. Unfortunately last November two men tresspassed the eel encolsure at Willowbanks wildlife reserve, and they slaughtered several of the female eels, some of the fish were 60-70 years old... http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/articl...

Dear @Draezeth, they are truly amazing! I hope NZ people will respect the species, and give it a chance to survive...

Wow, those are some long-lived creatures! Kind of creepy, but cute at the same time.
