Very distinctive pattern of lines and spots on the underside of the wings.
Spotted at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on exposed hillside. Native habitat there is mixed coniferous and deciduous forest with pine, spruce, Douglas Fir, Gambel Oak, aspen, and cottonwood.
One rarely sees the upper surface of the wings on this butterfly.
