Tawny cap with radially furrowed margin. stalk has white, saclike cup around base. Cap: 2-4" wide. Gills: free, close, broad; white to cream. Stalk: 3-6" long. Veil" universal veil white, sometimes with rust stain, leaving persistent, large, loose, sacklike cup. No partial veil

Habitat:

July - September, March in California. On the ground, under deciduous and coniferous trees.
