Buteo jamaicensis
A fairly large hawk of some kind, I believe...
Along Highway 210, on power lines and poles, just outside of town
Appeared to either be looking for roadkill or for rodents and birds in the grasslands near it

JamesFunk-I'll watch for that from now on. Thank you again! :-)
Yes...I was birding at Hawk Mountain, not far from my home here in Pa. when I first heard it mentioned.
JamesFunk-Thank you! Belly band? Do you mean the darker feathers in the otherwise white chest area? I knew to look for size and tail color, markings or tail-tip shape but had never heard of the belly band before. :-)
Red-tailed Hawk...Photo of Hawk taking flight gives you the best look at ID markings...belly band is a good marking to look for along with tail...Great Photos!
EmilyMarino-I didn't see the red in the tail on this one like I have in others. It had me stumped. Thank you!!
JerryMorrow-Thank you so much!!
Lovely Red-tail!
