Western Meadowlark

Sturnella neglecta

Description:

Yellow chest and belly, with a black "v" shape on the breast, and white flanks streaked with black. Back and wings are mostly brown, but also have black streaks. These birds have long pointed bills and their heads are striped with light brown and black. Dark and light stripes along near the top of the head.

Habitat:

Open grassy areas.

Notes:

Spotted this at Martin Luther King park.
